If you’re so focused on what you’re doing, you’ll miss out on who you are being

In striving for all of our dreams and goals, we get so caught up in doing first, having second and then becoming as a last resort that we forget a simple truth. We have to become the thing we’re after, and then the rest will follow.

What this means is that behind every tangible goal or accomplishment is an underlying state of being that we actually desire.

We want more money? The the state of being we’re after may be abundance.
We want to be in a relationship? The state of being may be feeling loved.
We want to be #1 in our field? The state of being may be wanting to feel worthy.

Does this mean we can never achieve these goals without foregoing the process of becoming and focusing solely on doing? Of course not, many people get there by simply putting their nose to the grindstone.

What I believe the repercussions of this are, are that we will never truly find the deeper desire that we are looking for and nothing will ever be enough. We will have failed to realize that at any point of the journey we could have already been abundant, loved, and worthy.

The physical accomplishment would have simply been the tangible evidence of it.

To our growth,
Jean.
