It’s a humbling and funny experience to realize the version of yourself you’ve created in your head doesn’t quite match up with reality. It’s even funnier when one of you’re talking points is self awareness.
This has been what has had me crying and laughing in equal measure. It has made me realize just how adept I am at lying to myself! How easy it actually is to be ignorant of one self.
I guess that is sometimes the process of self awareness – sometimes it happens gradually, creeps up on you and when you’re least expecting it whispers truths you don’t want to hear.
