- Gives me a greater perspective about myself and my circusmstance –
Whenever I decide to have a grateful attitude, I inevitably realize that my circumstance is not as bad as I think it is. Neither am I as bad as I think I am, especially since I tend to be critical of how little I think I am doing.
As I zoom out and gain this broader perspective, it helps me be more objective as well and to not be so carried by my emotions & feelings. In the long run what this has meant is that I tend to spend less time being down in the dumps, I am able to take ownership for my own actions, and I am able to take swift and aligned actions to move forward with my vision and values at the forefront.
I know it seems like an exaggeration to say that a gratitude practice has brought all of that into my life, but I challenge you: If you don’t believe me, try it for yourself.
The only thing to keep in mind: this is a practice that works in subtle ways – it won’t knock you over the head – which means the greatest thing you can do to allow it the time to work on you is to commit to it for the long term.
I dare you to.
To our growth,
Jean.
