5 ways gratitude has changed my life – #4

  1. Changes my own self talk which changes how I speak & show up with others

Here’s what I believe: what is in our heart will eventual come out so if we tend to be critical, judgemental, and harsh with ourselves then that is how we will show up with others as well.

I say many times that we cannot compartmentalise our lives, no matter how hard we try, and it all eventual bleeds into one another. So what we do behind closed doors, in front of the mirror, spoken in our heads or uttered behind someone’s back always come back around and out.

As I mentioned before, gratitude is a subtle practice that penetrates deeper into our being and psyche over time. Part of that transformation includes our hearts, our tongue, our thoughts, and actions. What I’ve noticed for myself is that the more I am grateful, the gentler and kinder my self talk becomes.

I may feel insecure, beaten, discouraged, or alone but a foundation of gratitude allows me to coax myself out of the valleys and darkness with love. Allows me grace, patience, compassion. In turn, as I become more loving, forgiving, graceful, + accepting of myself; I am able to be that way for others.

My relationship with myself, fuelled by a grateful spirit, not only teaches others how to treat me but it also sets the tone for how I show up for others.

To our growth,
Jean.
