I do my best everyday to go for a walk, get some fresh air, and spend a bit of time in nature. It’s been raining today, and I had to bundle up a little more than usual. It made me think, at what point will I stop doing this? Especially living in Canada at the moment, where snow and frigid temperatures are just around the corner. Will I still be out there then?
It made me ponder about what it takes to love Mother Nature through her seasons, what it takes to love myself and others through the seasons because it’s so easy to smile and embrace ourselves when the sun shines, warmth is easy to come by, and everything is in bloom – it seems that changes once everything has a layer of frost over it.
Perhaps its not so difficult, and just requires a bit of preparation.
Instead of resisting the wet, cold, and windy – I just put on my layers, strapped on my boots, and looked for the beauty. The pitter patter of rain drops, the green moss on the trees, and that undeniable fresh smell of falling rain.
Let’s see if I can love myself the same.
To our growth,
Jean.
