Why do I love taking photos, especially self-photography? Because I understand, it’s all perspective baby.
In photography where I can be both the muse in front of the camera and the director behind the lens, I give myself an opportunity to shift my perspective of myself.
When all of us have a tendency to view ourselves through the lens of criticism, judgement, un-forgiveness, and doubt; making space for moments to see yourself differently matters. In self photography, I start to see myself with an eye of creativity, a spirit of discovery and exploration, finding expression, beauty, appreciating the unique curves & lines that make me unique.
There’s just something about capturing yourself, and instead of shying away, proclaiming: I am worthy of being seen.
Now imagine when we see the rest of the world like this?
To our growth,
Jean.
