Hey excuses, you’re not invited where I’m going!

I cannot desire growth and keep my excuses too.

One thing the growth mindset exposed to me about myself was how often I used my lack of ability as an excuse. As soon as I started on the path of growth, the question that kept on persisting was this: How do you know you aren’t good at something if you haven’t even given it an honest effort?

How do you know you can’t write or draw? Have you practiced every day for at least 365 days, improving along the way?
How do you know you can’t lose weight and get fit? Have you actually found a sustainable workout and food program and stuck to it for long enough?
How do you know you’re doomed to bad relationships? Have you taken the time to learn healthy communication, boundary setting, and applied what you’re learning?
How do you know can’t stay consistent and disciplined? Have you eliminated distractions, gotten clear about what you actually want and created a daily plan of action?

Jeez, talk about being called out!

I felt like I got smacked upside the head, not once but many times until I finally realised just how much I was limiting myself by clinging on to my fixed mindset.

So to my excuses: thanks for the memories & lessons, but you’re no longer invited where I’m going!

To our growth,
Jean.
