We already know what we need to do

A lesson I’ve learned lately is walking away from all that no longer serves you at the exact moment when you know you should, and not a second too late.

It has helped me to be more discerning about that tipping point that happens when it comes to people, places and things that can determine what direction these aspects of our lives will take and how there is a window of opportunity for us to make a conscious decision about it.

What do I mean by that?

Its those moments that we look back when something explodes, withers or goes terribly awry and we say to ourselves, “I knew I should have…” or “I saw that coming…” or “If I had just followed my gut…”

I’ve come to realize how adept I am, we all are, at squashing reality, ignoring our intuition, and convincing ourselves that things are much better than they seem.

But lately I’ve gotten tired of always having to learn and wish I had made different choices in retrospect, especially since I am now aware of this repeating pattern(and have been for a while truth be told). I want to stop missing out on those moments where instead of letting things slide and turning a blind eye, I step up to the opportunity to choose myself, my dreams, my well-being, and my values.

At the end of the day what we all want is to say we lived a life that was true to us, and sometimes that requires us to walk away, whether we are ready or not, from all that keeps us from it.

To our growth,
Jean.
