If there is one thing that has been resonating with me today, its that no one knows our journey and our story as intimately as we do.
Of course on the surface that’s an obvious statement and goes without saying, but the deeper I considered it the more I realised just how empowering it is.
What it means to me is that no one has the authority to speak over my life, unless I let them, and especially in the negative sense if they don’t truly know me.
They don’t know what I’ve been through. They don’t know the hills I’ve climbed. The tears I’ve cried, the sacrifices I’ve made, the loneliness, regret, rejection and pain I’ve endured.
Even those closest to me, which can sometimes be the ones who unknowingly pierce us with their words the most, at the end of the day do not have the power to declare who they think I am.
So perhaps if the statement above is an obvious one, then so is this: Only we have the privilege, choice and responsibility to determine who we are now and who we continue to become.
To our growth,
Jean.
