Letting the journey strengthen my heart, instead of weaken it

The most difficult thing I’ve had to do, as I’ve striven towards my dreams and goals, has actually had nothing directly to do with the goals themselves and everything to do with building myself.

If you would have told a younger bright eyed and bushy tailed version of me at the start of this journey that I would spend literal years solely focused on figuring me out, I may have hesitated for at least a second – which is saying something because one of my strongest qualities, for better or for worse, is diving in head first without a second thought.

It makes me reflect on the tenacity, resilience, and longevity it takes to make anything worthwhile happen. The years, sometimes even decades, that it can take to see a dream realised – to see yourself become who you were always meant to be. It is truly not meant for the weak of heart.

The truth? Even my heart gets weakened but I am reminded that this life – that is equal parts ugly, messy and beautiful – is all about the becoming. It’s all about the journey, the single steps that culminate into a thousand because that’s where the greatest growth, stories, and experiences come from.

With that in mind, I am reminded that I wouldn’t have it any other way.

To our growth,
Jean.
